Lord Lightning

There was this horse from the early 1980's whose name always fascinated me, even though in my pre-pre-teens, I didn't know what that meant.

Name was Lord Lightning. I've never been to the racetrack. I never really knew how to read horseracing 'charts' or programs or even horserace results in newspapers (back when that was really being done by newspapers), but I figured Lord Lightning wasn't really a great horse. The 'super horse' in the Philippines in the early '80's was Fair and Square, in the latter half of the decade, it was Magic Showtime (the owner must have been a Lakers fan like me).

Great horse or not - perhaps those who have seen him (her) race could tell me - Lord Lightning left me something. His name. That's what I've always liked about that horse. And I would find it useful later.

In my native language, Capampangan, Lord Lightning is Lakan Kildap. Hence my blogger's name.
